Introduction
The Flamethrower. the greeks had their version, the scotish had their version, but none of these where as terrifying and lethal as the Ancient chinese. they invented it in the 10th century and since then nothing has been the same.
how was it made
the chinese flamethrower was made in the 10th century. The tank is made of brass, and supported on four legs. The head and tail of the cylinder are large, the middle is of narrow diameter. how was the ejected gasoline ignited as it left the flame-thrower? Obviously it could not be burning before it left, for then the man holding the machine would be destroyed by flames himself. The answer is that a lighted fuse was held in front of the nozzle, so that when the gasoline was squirted out, it was ignited after it was already on its way through the air.
when was it made?
the flamethrower was made in the 10th century AD after a armyy general was scared and had at least 13L of oil on his ship and ran over to protect it. his ship hit a small rock and the oil flew over the ship's stern and onto the Han's ship and in mid-air exploded into flames. The General was astonished and one of the crew members saw and got the idea, his name was not known, to put oil into a tank that waould atuomatically ignite flames. he tried this and eventually created this wepon. he called it the 'Flamethrower' or 'Flame Spitter' because of how it "threw" the flames around.
Why was it made?
The Flamethrower was made for war and to put on war ships. at first they where large and awkward machines, but though the years it has become smaller and you can put it on you back. the Flamethrower was put on ships to burn their opponents ships, as they where made out of wood. the flames would not only burn the ships but also the other crew members. the flame thrower then became the ultiminte wepon. later on the flamethrower was added on to tanks in around the 20th century.
summary
so as you can see the flamethrower was quite a useful dangerous wepon, and nothing could stop it, as there wouldn't have been fire extinguishers and so on in that time. there has been other horrible weppons but none truly as deadly as this one. the flamethrower destroyed everything in it's path, and it was truley was the most destructive wepon that had ever been invented. (in that time.)
